How to Share your NWEA MAP Data with eSpark

Our partner schools and districts can share their NWEA data with us, and we can use it to set student levels for eSpark! (Don't worry if you don't use NWEA, your students will take a placement quiz in eSpark instead!)

These three quick steps are usually completed by the school or district tech team.

1. Exporting NWEA data

We typically suggest sharing NWEA data with us after each testing window closes. We use the data to update student levels in the fall and the winter, and we use the spring data to complete an analysis of your students' growth.

A school or district admin can schedule delivery of exportable MAP Growth results data using the Data Export Scheduler, available from the MAP Growth Reports landing page. The results are delivered from NWEA in CSV format and packaged in a .zip file.

For eSpark, we need the basic Comprehensive Data files:

  • StudentBySchool.csv β€” Student-to-school associations

  • AssessmentResults.csv β€” All valid assessment results for students in the specified term

2. Matching students to their test scores

In addition to the NWEA data, we also need a special CSV file so we can connect the students' eSpark accounts to their Star scores. You can find a template here.

A couple of things to note:

  • This file only usually needs to be submitted 1x per school year.

  • If your district uses Classlink with eSpark, we do not need this file.

3. Sharing the data with eSpark

All three files can be uploaded at once using our secure file sharing link.
